Forget the CC bill - that's what they are for - emergencies.
If frivalous spending has stopped, you will get there.
Concentrate on the health of you & yours, and if bad luck can come in such a huge batch, then surely you are due a bit of good luck too.

I'm really sorry to hear that you're having such a hard time, jpwhittle. These things always seem to come at once, and i can imagine you feel tired and under pressure.

Just remember that yours and your baby son's health are the most important thing right now, and don't forget to ask for your partners/family's/friend's help if you need it. It often helps me to feel better to get things out of my system - typing a rant on the MSE forum is a great way to do that! There's always someone to read and replyto your posts, and so much sympathy from so many MSEers.

Take care, and I really hope you feel better soon x

  • Sounds like the sort of month you don't need! Can you shift balances to interest free to make them come down sooner - at least that way you would feel as though you were making faster progress. There's nothing like family illness to make you realise that debt is really not the most important thing in the world. Best wishes to you all.

Oh dear I was very sorry to read about you finding a lump too.
Agree with the previous posters about your health being number 1 priority.....absolutely right.

As howalsh said, as long as any frivolous spending has stopped on the credit card, then it will come down. Give yourself a break from worrying about it...you are doing what you can.

Best wishes and keep ranting on here if it helps!

you often find things tick along quite nicely and you seem to be making headway and then everything goes wrong because of circumstances beyond your control. the health of you and your son have to take priority- the credit card can wait. can you put extra money spent on 0% card? - transfer balance etc. do you have insurance on which you can claim for damage caused by flood? can you repair or do some of work on cars yourself or know someone who can help? are cars covered by a warranty under which you can claim? do you have one of those health insurance policies? if so some pay out money if you or children go into hospital. just a few ideas that may help reduce the amount. hope you and your son are better very very soon.
