oil smell removal

My Dad has a pair of work overalls that stink of oil/petrol:eek: . My mother has washed them several times but can't get rid of the smell. Has anyone got any suggestions please:D

    Put them out on the cloths line on a windy day.

    You may have to do it a few times but it will work.
    I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

    What about putting a tablespoon of bicarb in with the washing powder? Not sure if it'd work, but bicarb's supposed to get rid of bad odours so it might ;)

    What about soaking them in a solution or Stardrops , it seems to be the universal cure all for anyhing thats dirty :grin:
    I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes. :doh:

    put a mixture of bicarb and lemon juice in a plant spray bottle and mist them a couple of times with the solution while its still foaming.

    How about putting a big scoop of soda crystals into the machine next time they go through the wash? Soda crystals are fantastic at getting grease etc out, so I should imagine they'd work on the smell too.

    I would try soaking them in a vinegar solution and then hanging outside.
