  • Oxfam - buy them a "Goat" - well it will be donated to those in need, andyour friend gets a folder/certificate. They have all sorts of price gifts/donations. Someone really needy will get the benefit of your generosity, hopefully your friends will be touched at your thoughtfulness !!!!! and if not, perhaps next year they will give you some suggestions rather than whatever.

I think you're as lazy as the person who said "what ever" tbh.
If you;re buying the gift for someone you want to buy a gift for then you should know them even just a tiny bit to know what they like.

If i was bought a standard gift for someone my age (smellies, etc) I wouldnt be too impressed.

    My opinion btw!

I agree. Everyone is different and like different things. It's more about the thought that goes into it rather than the present itself. IMO getting something like smellies or chocolates just shows no imagination and because they are fairly traditional gifts, in the past I have ended up with several different sets- none of which I'm likely to use as I have far too much of the stuff as it is.

Try looking on websites like www.firebox.co.uk
or www.iwantoneofthose.com or www.notonthehightstreet.com for some inspiration, failing that try just popping to you local town centre and looking in the shops.

so can you help me get gifts for a:

    42 year old man

    38 year old woman

and where you can get them and the price
    thanks mickscool1234:santa2:

    Hi mickscool,

I've always found a pretty safe option is a DVD boxset, most people will have a favourite TV show or set of films that they will watch again & again.

Hope that gives you some inspiration! :p

  • At least you're trying, my husband leaves it all to me. I'm no good on what to get men either, but as a woman of around the same age, I love to receive luxury "smellies" like Sanctuary, Soap and Glory anything that's a treat and you wouldn't always buy for yourself. Other than that a facial, manicure or something similar as already suggested, but depends on how much you want to spend.

    I've been Money Tipped!
My BF asked me this yesterday and I nearly replied 'whatever' as I don't really 'need' anything. But I do like collecting things - so I've asked for a Pandora, Chamelia or Trollbeads bracelet. That way when ever he asks in the future, I can ask for beads to go it:D

You could do similar - start her off on a charm bracelet?

Men are easier cos you can get them alcohol, aftershave or similar.

  • Craft kits - knitting / airfix / glass painting - depending on the person's interests. If they have any hobbies, a related book (try searching on Amazon) or advertising poster for collectables.
Or, make up a hamper with different chocs, pickles, crackers, bottle of Cava, etc. (A shoe box covered in Christmas wrapping paper works well).
