Help with reclaiming bank charges

Hi - newbie here - first post!
I used to have an acount with Abbey with a £1,000 overdraft limit, I moved house and got myself into a spiral of debt. Abbey were bouncing DD's left, right & centre, and charging me which made me more overdrawn and so they would charge me for going over my overdraft limit. In the end the charges were so high, I couldn't afford to pay any of my overdraft off, and to cut a long story short I ended up with lots of ccj's!
Since then i've paid all my debts off, all ccj's are satisfied (although still on credit file). I've married and bought a house with my husband.
I would love to reclaim all the charges from the Abbey - I half blame them for making life so difficult if I wasn't being charged upwards of £200 per month I would have been able to manage!
What letter do I have to send to get my bank statements or a list of charges, do I need to send proof of ID as all my information has changed?
When I receive statement copies what letter do I send to the bank telling them I want to reclaim the charges?
Thanks in advance for your help

The best place to go is https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk
they ahve a step by step process, templates for all letters you need to send and an abbey chat forum where other people are doing the same as you.
i think abbey are one of the worst for claiming against
i am in the middle of a claim and they delay it everyway they can.... stick to your guns and you will get there though
