Horse and Carriage - Is this an issue?

Hi peeps,

Am wondering what avenues and options we have regarding this potential issue.

We have paid in full by cheque and although they have said twice now they will send confirmation in the post this has never arrived. They have sort of confirmed in email, words being, "Many thanks for the booking confirmation and payment, my other half processed the cheque yesterday and we will send you our confirmation slip."

It does not state that FULL payment has been made.

We also emailed them a month ago (roughly) saying that the time we are getting married is actually 1.30pm NOT 1pm and that we still havent recieved a confirmation slip. No response, so I emailed them yesterday forwarding the message and this was the reply,

"Dear Tam,

Thaks for your Email. sorry for the delay, we hope you are all well and look forward to seeing you next year

simon"

What the hell does that mean?!?!?!!?!

I picked Shellsuits brain already (thanks sweetie). I want to hold off calling for the moment as I want everything in writing (and we have called asking for the confirmation). Are we being pains? I dont want to keep bugging them, but everyone else has confirmed payments etc. If I lose total confidence in them do you think we will be able to get our money back?

I am really panicking as this was my dream, and one of the reasons we are getting married in Scotland is because the horses were so much cheaper.

Any help and advice much appreciated xxxxx

I dont see the problem tbh. Just phone them and say you are finalising everything and would really appreciate a firm email stating clearly that a) you've paid in full and b) they acknowledge in writing what time the wedding is.

Explain that you have already emailed them but twice haven't had a reply and the reply you did get didn't seem to relate to you which is why you would like a clear confirmation that all is ok.

I live in Scotland and often feel we do things in a more laid back fashion than our counterparts down south, but clearly you need to feel assured everything will be as planned so there's no harm in clarifying things to help calm any worries you may have.

    Just phone them. :D

phone them up - your not bugging them, you want confirmation of the money paid which is your right as a customer, it might be that they are just relaxed business people and have done this for so many years that they just do it like this now. They do it so often its normal practice for them but they forget that its a bride's first time.

When i booked my mums wedding car costing £500 we didnt get a receipt or anything but my mum rang every week to change things and they were not fussed by this at all.

Just say your going through your wedding finances and have noticed that you dont have a receipt from them and you need one to balance your finances. Plus you have changed the time of the weding and need written confirmation that the new time is ok.

Although i would class this as conformation -
"Many thanks for the booking confirmation and payment, my other half processed the cheque yesterday and we will send you our confirmation slip."

As it clearly states that you have made a booking and paid.

we hope you are all well and look forward to seeing you next year

    simon"

What the hell does that mean?!?!?!!?!

It means you are pencilled in the diary so No they havent forgot about you and they will be seeing you on the day you have booked for.

So calm down it will all be fine. :)

  • Hi Honey, all I got from our Dj was a confirmation email that we have him booked but we don't pay him until the day of the wedding, so it's a little bit different.

I would just give them a ring and say that you would like to confirm everything and could they send it all to you in writing, including a receipt. I'm sure it won't be a problem and it will give you peace of mind honey, take care xx
