wedding gift ideas

For our wedding last year we said we had a sofa fund and any contributions would be wonderful. We included with the invites small envelopes which could be left annonymous, and so avoiding embarrasment, and filled with whatever the giver wished ie. cash, cheque or i.o.u. for however much they could afford. These were put in a big fish bowl on the day
.A lot of people appreciated not having to think of gifts as it was difficult enough finding something to wear and a few did buy us personal gifts. I think the Chinese fill lucky red envelopes with cash for newlyweds to help them on their way. Much better than getting lots of towels in colours you don't want.
You could always offer your services to help instead of a gift.
ps we still haven't got enough for a sofa! but had a fab day
