ARGH...grey marks on white t-shirt

I'm hoping one of you lovely lot will be able to help me.............I put my nice pristine white t-shirt into the washing machine and it came out with a dirty, grey splodge on it:mad::mad:
Wouldn't be so bad if it was on the back, I could cover it up with a cardigan but oh no.....it's slap bang in the middle of the front near the collar:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Anybody got any ideas of how I can get rid of it?!?! I've tried my (usually) reliable Vanish but didn't work and I was too scared to try anything 'homemade' coz with my luck I'd make it worse:)

TIA x

Any ideas what could have caused the stain ?

What is the t-shirt made of - polycotton? acrylic mix? pure cotton?
  • Hi Olliebeak

Nope not a clue what caused the stain, it went into the washing machine with all whites and came out with the mark on it:( I'm 95% sure the t-shirts pure cotton, will double check tonight:)

Have you tried rubbing some washing up liquid into it? That's one of my first starting points with unidentified stains - works great in case it's grease/oil-based. I find it's ALWAYS worth a try :).

Did any of those whites have a dark logo on them perhaps?

oooooo would never have thought of washing up liquid:o:o Will give that a go:)
And yes the t-shirt itself does have a dark emblem on the back of the neck, in place of a label:rolleyes::o

What about a soak in bleach if it is all white?
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.

Maybe the dye/colour ran from the emblem - oh dear - hope the washingup liquid trick works. Certainly won't do any harm.

    Good Luck :)

It's not sludge from the rubber seal is it? That's happened to me with whites before.

Wipe around it with a dry cloth and see what's there x
