Current Account Tarting

I'm sure I've seen a thread or section devoted to this...but now I come to look for it, I can't find it. Maybe I dreamt it.

Thought i'd go even further than being a credit card tart, and be a current account wh*re too. Moved my current account to Lloyds TSB to get their £50 joining offer...as soon as that comes through, I'm going to move again to FirstDirect and pick up their £50 joining offer too. Then when that one comes through I might settle with Alliance & Leicester for what seems like the best interest rate I can find at the moment

Unless anyone else knows of any other introductory offers?

Does this make me a bad person?

It doesnt make you a bad person, but it is rather a lot of hassle.

We were going to get the cash from a FD, but we had to move our salaries, so we didnt bother. And as for moving all the DDs, I just couldnt be bothered for £50, now does that make me a bad perosn?

Also i think if you have your current account for short times then it has a neg affect on credit rating, dont know why i know that, maybe i read it on here

I think that is the case lynzpower, again not sure exaxtly where i know that. Comapnies ask how long you have held your previous bank accounts and if less than three years they ask for the one before that going back three years. You are more likely to get declined for credit (and new bank account apps) if you move about too much.

Having said that the incentives are tempting if you can be bothered with the hassle.... I have changed:D to the A & L for thier cashback but now I have changed I will stay with them I think.

I've kept all of my direct debits and standing orders on a barclays account that I've had for years, and just throw a single chunk of money across on payday to cover them all. So when I change bank accounts, I'll just be chucking it across from a different account.

The accounts I've seen let you apply on line, so there's very little hassle in changing - although having to take ID into the branch can be a bit of a pain.

But then again, it's fifty quid...and there's a lot of things I'd do for fifty quid.... mwah hah hahah hahah - ("spins round in chair and strokes white cat")

I'll probably stay put wil A&L too Lynz. Just want to play them at their own game for a moment, stick a couple of fingers up at the baking industry for the crap things they do to the public etc etc

Thats 'banking industry' by the way. I have absolutely no gripe with the baking industry whatsoever.

    Long live their pasties.

Not bad grey pilgrim but every time you apply for credit yur rating is affected - do it too much, too often & it has a negative effect. I'm with you though - get money out of the banks! Have been thinking of swapping to A&L - partly due to incredibly bad service from Lloyds & the £50 makes it worth the hassle...I think!! Wouldnt do it regularly though!
