JobcentrePlus intensive job search ?

Having been on JSA for just over 3 months I attended the 13 week review, where having produced sheets of print outs showing my vacancies applied for, agencies registered with etc, the girl said there was not much else she could advise that I do.
A few days later when I went to sign on, I was told I was being put on "intensive job search", and would need to go to the Jobcentre every week instead of every two weeks. I did not ask what this entailed exactly, but now wonder how one day I am doing everything possible to find work, and a few days later I am deemed to need this extra "assistance" ?
Just wondering if this is normal practice and applies to everyone on JSA after 13/14 weeks, or am I being singled out for some arbitrary reason ?
Dont get me wrong, if this is genuinely helpful I wont mind attending, just wondering if anyone else has had the same ?

Thanks

    Hi Pieme
Its the norm, after 13 weeks, weekly signings for 6 weeks!

Completely normal, so don't worry that you have been singled out in some way. It's their way of demonstrating that they are doing everything they can to help you get work. I'm sure the success of that is open to some debate!

What may not have been made clear to you though is that if you are incurring additional transport costs to get there on the weeks that you wouldn't normally attend, then the Job Centre will reimburse these costs.

    All the best.

My OH finished this a few weeks ago, I got told it was called swim - six week intensive somethingorother

The sign ins last the same time as normal, they look on the screen and find a job, print it out for you and then discuss why it's not suitable (sorry, a cynic, but they kept suggesting my OH apply as a RMN or jobs that require own car and 3 yrs driving when he's not ever had a license.)
Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
