Fees for bounced cheques, DDs etc... unfairly punitive and thus often refunded.

Had any in the last 6 years?

If you bank has charged you for going over your overdraft or bouncing DD/SOs then the money thay have taken off you isnt legal and you can claim it back. But it does may well come to court, and it is suing your bank.

go onto the consumer action group and read ALL the faqs and everything. You can get your statements back under the Data protection Act.

You should be able to get copies of statements. They may charge you. But what is say £20 when you could be getting back hundreds of pounds. in charges.

Also from a personal point of view you should really keep statements for past 6 years. Just in case. Mind you that comes from someone who has her telephone bills from about 8 nearly 9 years ago :rotfl:

    All the best.

I hope you are going to put in a claim for those charges asap

Check out the CAG website as advised above. But basically you send a letter off asking for your bank statements for last 6 months. When recieved add up charges and send letter asking for them back. Give bank two weeks. If nothing send another letter giving them another 1-2 weeks advising if they dont pay you will see them in court. If still no refund forthcoming then file a claim.

That is very briefly the process the CAG will go into much more deetails with templates for your letters and an exellent forum for advice and guidance from other people in the same boat.

    Good luck

Can I please just clarify (scared to go wandering into other forums - they may not be as nice as you lot).....only yesterday I received notification of £25 charge for a bounced DD (the day before pay day:mad: ). Can I claim that charge (in full or in part) back?
