So it is possible to deal with my creditors on my own? I will write to them. Please confirm...I can come to an arrangement on my own without outside help and deal with creditors all by myself??.....
Yes although you may gain from taking advice from some of the debt charities first. You may also want to start on your own or with a charity and then change tack later.
It will affect my credit file I am guessing but is it as drastic as an IVA? I am not even eligible for an IVA? .....
An IVA is an insolvency arrangment, so it has to be declared when ever you are asked about it, for ever, like bankruptcy. A DMP eventually disappears of your credit record.
I haven't come to that stage yet where people are knocking my door down! But I have worked on the other side and I know one missed payment and the letters, the extra charges and eventually the Bailiffs will be on their way.
Bailliffs are a LONG way down the line and thee is a lot you can do to prevent that happening. By and large as long as you keep the door shut, they can do very little.
