Well My week hasn't been to bad after all.
Have packed up smoking on Wednesday so this is day 3 of no fags
Made all my lunches for work this week
Manage to get abit more out of the petrol in the car so filling her up today instead of yesterday evening.
Investigated about becoming a Avon lady and got my area last night so next month at least there is something extra coming in. (Well hopefully it some of my area buy something)
Still am abit worried about Father's Day and it is my Mum's birthday this month aswell.
I have also booked a week off, off work at the end of June. So a saving on the petrol then aswell. Not going anywhere, just a week off to and try not to worry about money
Hope everyone has a nice weekend:j

Hi Pot,
I went to the see my nurse at the doctors and got the patches on perscription, 2 weeks worth for £6.95 instead of the £30 pounds I think it would cost me.
Good luck if you are going to try I would recommend it, over the last 3 days I have spent £35.55 and then £35.00 was on petrol for the car. The 55p on a can of Diet Coke instead of the £5.08 each day on a packet of fags.Month June 06 current debt stands at: Loan with OH £20,000, Egg Card £7324 now £7191.00, Barclaycard £700, Overdraft was £2550 now £2400, Car Loan £297 a month finishes in Nov 06, £9.00 Savings, Piggysbank points 3700 -
Wow thats excellent, fags are soooo expensive I know if i pop to the shop for a loaf/bread etc. AND 20 fags, I never get much change from a tenner!
You WILL be saving £157.48 a month. That's an incentive itself.
Will be ringing the doctors when they open at 9am.
Thanks

Good Luck Pot if you decide to give up. It is only my third day.
I do find that if I only keep £3 in purse then haven't got enough money to buy fags so that helps as wellMonth June 06 current debt stands at: Loan with OH £20,000, Egg Card £7324 now £7191.00, Barclaycard £700, Overdraft was £2550 now £2400, Car Loan £297 a month finishes in Nov 06, £9.00 Savings, Piggysbank points 3700 -
I too gave up smoking recently (about 12 weeks now). I chose to go cold turkey (just decided one day and stuck to it, very spontaneous) having investigated the cost of nicotene replacement products and seen many friends who tried to quit gradually but never ended up quitting at all.
Days 1 - 4 were by far the worst for cravings, despite this, during that period i probably saved close to £25. After that, will power is a key element in quitting. Never think that you have proved you can quit and reward yourself with a fag (i know this sounds stupid, but you wont believe how many times i have thought like this)
I used the incentive of money saving and as each day passed i became even more determined not to let myself down and also to prove a point to friends who still smoked (they never doubted me,but i can imagine the reaction they would give if i started again).
Anyway, it will be 12 weeks on sunday and to be honest, i dont think about them at all now unless i see someone else smoking. I can drive the car without sparking up, go to the pub and chew on a straw for the duration (this does help) and enjoy the fact that i dont stink anymore. I have probably saved somewhere in the region of £400 now and want more.
Good luck,it will be so satisfying if you succeed.0 -
Hi Lightspeed,
Well done you.
I am looking at my bank balance and is keeping me going on the not smoking. I am going to do it, I like the fact as you say that you don't smell anymore.
I am doing my not smoking through the doctors so I am on a plan, I hope this helps.
