I need a new vacuum-any recommendations?

I used to have a dyson dco7, that has died!
Can anyone please recommend a decent vacuum, about £80.00, with good suction. I bought a cheap Hoover petmaster (B grade) and had to get a refund, as it kept cutting out.
I need something reliable, as it will be used everyday. We have pets(2 dogs), so need something good.
Please please give me some ideas, as I keep looking on the web, and can't find any decent reviews. I also want to buy one from a high street store, not from the net, so if there are any problems, I can take it back to the store.
Thank you for any help.

We've just bought the Miele cat and dog one. Its not come yet. We got one from ebay. It was new but a slight second due to a scratch on the body. They retail for about £165, our was about £148 (no great bargain, but every little helps)0

Thanks for the replies.
I chose a Vax Swift, it was £54.00 from Argos. It is light and has really good suction. It is like a Dyson, with a cyclone, and no bags to empty. Up to now, it works a treat!0
