ok i am prob being very dim, but i just cannot work out how to claim bank charges back. ok we haven't had any in over 18 months. but between 2001 and 2004 we did.
Please can anyone help my husband and i work out what on earth we have to do. and explain it really simple. i have never worked out how many or how much bank charges have mounted up to. but i'd prob say a couple of grand.
is everyone entitled to ask for it back. or if it was only in a certain time scale.
like i say please help. but please keep it simple.
many thanks.

Hi,
Yes, you can claim them back for 6 years
Step by step instructions
First of all join https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk and you can get copies of all the letters that you need in the templates library.
1. Ask for copies of statements/charges in last 6 years - bank has 40 days to comply. If no reply, use information commission to help
2. Send letter requesting refund of these charges = 8% for interest.
3. If no reply, send LBA - letter before action - saying that if they do not refundwithin 14 days , you will take to court
4. If no refund - claim through courtgone0 -
The best thing to do is signup to this forum and take a look at the 2 links below. They have a step by step guide. Read it all over a few times so most of it makes sense!
Any problems either post on there or here!

It took 3 months against RBS. That was just for current accounts, I'm about to "do" them again for my RBS Credit card

I'm working on 31 cases now :cool:0
