had a spoonful of dorito's 'mild' dipping salsa leftover, so thought i'd try mixing it into some pasta -

wow, what a kick!

I got a 3, maybe 4, alarm, on the homer simpson scale!

I always use sauces, relishes and salad dressings to go with pasta. The best one I ever found was a Heinz (I think), quite a few years ago. It was orange and honey salad dressing. I was living in a bedsit at the time and the "kitchen" had a small sink and a fridge, on top of the fridge was a toaster and kettle and that was it for space. I was invited to a "bring a plate" style of party, where you take along something to eat, creating a buffet assortment from everybody. I simply boiled up some tricolour pasta, drained it and cooled it with cold water, then chucked it into a tupperware box and splashed that on. It was brilliant.

Another thing I've done too is just mixed tricolour pasta with a small tin of pineapple cubes. I think the tricolour gives you a "head start" on anything looking great.

Recently I did some plain/white swirly pasta with some of that new Branston flavoured mayonnaise, I tried the Twist of Sweet Chilli one.

Good idea..I buy snacks and salsa on the way home from the pub and never eat it because I don't like it when I'm not really peckish. i'll use the salsa on this next time I'm silly like that.

I once bought this stuff http://www.pataks.co.uk/products/lime-pickle.aspx thinking it was a nice dipper, it is VILE eaten on it's own or with snacks....but a TINY drop in a soup or curry, really nice. Also a very small amount mixed into minced meats make a great kebab ..I bet it would be nice with Quorn to add flavour.

Their mango pickle is similar but not as vicious, not like mango chutney tho...:rotfl:

Pataks do a range of pickles and sauces meant for dipping but better for cooking...and a jar lasts forever since you use so little. Not many people seem to like them which dosn't shock me if they eat them raw, so they turn up discounted often.
