Sandander application lost - 4 times
Hi folks,
This is my first time posting, so please excuse any mistakes.
On the last bank holiday in May, my husband and found our perfect suite (2x 3 seaters, black leather)in Reids Furniture, Bangor Co Down to be delivered in Sept. We agreed to 3 years interest free credit - cost of £1,400 and the application form was filled in and signed. We received a no obligation credit card from the credit company (Santander) but we just cut it up. We recieved a statement advising us that the 1st payment would be taken on 1st Nov etc.
Approx 6 weeks later we recieved a letter from Santander advising us that they still hadnt recieved our application form, and to call into store to complete. I called the store who told me that it was an error and to ignore. A couple of weeks later another letter arrived saying that our account had been closed because we hadnt sent app form. Went into store who told us that they had resent the app form after our 1st letter, so I rang Santander from the store and they said they didnt have our form and another one needed to be sent. We did this.
Yet another few weeks pass and a statement arrives to say a/c was closed due to no app form! Went into Reids store again, the manager was very annoyed (as was I). We rang Santander again and they said they didnt have our application and to send AGAIN! The manager told them that this would be sent registered post and to ensure that this form didnt get lost.
Lovely new suite got delivered in Sept. Then - phone call from Reids 2 weeks ago to ask if I could come into the store to sign application form as Santander hadnt recieved it. The sales assistant was unaware of all the previous forms sent until I told her. She said she would look into it. They called me back on Fri to appologise but that I had to sign another copy of the app form!
What I am now deeply concerned about is that the forms which have been sent 4 times, have all our bank a/c details - sort code, a/c no, along with our home address, dates of birth, previous adressess, employers details, security details etc.
Where are these forms? Is my bank a/c at risk? Can I refuse to send form again until the others are returned? Should I inform my bank?
I am so worried, I cant sleep and dont know who to ask or what to do?
Sorry this is so long and hope above hopes that someone can advise me

Firstly, don't be paranoid.
Identity theft is not common.
And these forms have been lost within Santander, not in the street. The chances are that the information will not get into "enemy" hands.
I have recently had major problems with Santander and a card application.
I applied for the card.
I phoned to ask why they had not responded.
They said that they had no record of the application.
I then got a letter - forwarded by Royal Mail from my previous address - claiming that Santander had written to me to query something on my app form, and that I now needed to phone up to complete the app.
I phoned up to do so - guess what - no record of my application.
Woman promised someone would ring me back the next day to sort it out. No phone call, a week later.
I have written to Santander to complain. No acknowledgement, even, for the complaint.
They are a complete shambles.0 -
Okay - have you got a copy of your letter complaining to Santander?
If so they have eight weeks from the date of receipt to respond to you. Generally a letter sent first class is considered to have been delivered two days after it was posted (excluding Sundays and Bank Holidays) so allow a week in view of the strikes.
If you have not heard 9 weeks after that you can put in a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman, citing significant inconvenience - you had to keep returning to the store etc.0
