elaine,
just read your last comment,
ive got CAB on 16/11 to pay my £100.
roughly how long after that are you made BR?
ive been getting worried about the OR interview,is it true that in scotland we dont have to see him?will i have to see anyone after paying my fee+sending of the forms?
many thanks0 -
Hi Kduffy, I paid my £100 in to the rbs then aprox 2 weeks later I got a letter from the AIB asking me to clarify a couple of points. I think this is also the standard are you sure you want to do this letter. About 3 weeks after I returned that I received a letter from the AIB telling me I was br that was it. There was also a letter to give to my bank saying they were not interested in the account. I have not heard anything since, no interview nothing

Good luck with it.
P.s. I cant recommend the trading standards money advice team enough, they even filled the forms out for me.Elaine xxxbr- 10/06/09

Why is it less stressful ?Its amazing how quickly it happens once the ball gets rolling, I feel the Scottish route is far less stressfull. Only costs £100, no court appearance and no interview with or. Simple.
Its how it should be its such a difficult and stressfull decision which despite what some people think, we dont take lightly.
Best of luck with it all

If you don't qualify for LILA bankruptcy (and many don't) then you have to wait until a creditor serves you with the correct paperwork, although some local authorities do this quite quickly, often people can be waiting for years for this to actaully happen.
If you do qualify for LILA then it can be quicker of course, but then again to be LILA you have to have basically no assets and a pretty low income, again not the best situation to be in!
Anyway, all the best to any of you going through it just now. I have not personally experience it but do have second hand knowledge of the processes and how stressful it can be. Bankruptcy should always be the last resort, and yes when it is actually all in place, can be a great relief.

Hi Orkneystar, I dont think I said it was not stressful, just less stressful. I promise you it was the most stressful time of my life and probably the biggest decision I have ever made, I am sorry if you felt I sounded flippant.
The OP had already stated it was the LILA route they were going down which is why I referred to it and to be honest the fact that you have low income low asset is 1. probably one of the reasons you are forced into br and 2. if you have nothing to have taken off you then yes in my opinion this would be less stressful that those having their homes, cars etc reposessed.
I hope this clarifies my veiwpoint a bit.
I hope the weather is as nice up in Orkney as it is down here

I realise the OP mentioned LILA, I was just pointing out that I don't think it is less stressful in Scotland, just different processes perhaps ? I understand about you thinking it bad to loose assets but then is it any better to never had had any decent assets in the first place ? Anyway I don't want to block up the thread (sorry OP) and hope the OP has a successful LILA (or otherwise) application.
