Selling Bookes- Amazon or Car boot?

HI,
Am trying to raise extra cash to pay off my debts that bit quicker! I have two bookcases full of softback books that I have bought over the past 4 years. Most of them are thriller/detective or chick lit books. Would it be better to list them on amazon or try and find a local car boot sale? and what sort of price would I get from them? Or will this be a waste of time and I would be better off giving them to a a local charity shop?

Try and make some money if you can!!! Perhaps one thing you can do is list all on amazon first, then the ones you don't sell there you can sell at a boot sale. Good luck!Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

try green metropolis.com too.
I didnt find they went anywhere at car boot ( aside from those picking the best to sell on amazon ) Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I've sold a couple of detective type books recently on amazon, so i would agree with others here and say give it a whirl, it doesn't cost you anything until they sell
Good Luck

AmazonHi
If you try the following contact and explain that you have quite a few books to sell. Ask him if you can try proseller option for a month free of charge. Usually Amazon charge 86p per book as a closing charge. If you are a proseller it is £25 plus vat per month. If you get a free month this allows you to sell at a greater profit and to see if you sell enough (ie 30 books per month) for proseller to be a better bet. Just remember to cancel this before it renews one calender month later if it is not the best option for you. Because Amazon give you a set amount of postage you can usually afford to sell books for 1p and still make a profit - unless they are very heavy to post. I usually go on and see how much the book is on sale for and undercut by 1p. Good luck.

AmazonDefinitely Amazon first (60 day listing) then by that time FINGERS CROSSED there will be nice weather and you can attend a car boot sale with a mate (possibly?) and have some fun/see what else you can sell whilst you are at it.
Good luck!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

AmazonI had books on GM for months and they didn't sell. Within hours of them being on Amazon I sold some. With GM you will make a maximum of about £2.50 whereas on Amazon you may make much more.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0

AmazonThe thing with Amazon is you can start selling them now - this minute - you don't have to wait for the next sunny boot sale day. It's free until they sell and you can always take them to a boot sale later if you have some left.0

AmazonHi,
A plea to anyone thinking of selling on Amazon - please only undercut the low price by 1p otherwise we all end up with lower prices for our goods! The items will sell at most higher prices (be it £1.49 or £10). Been undercut several times by silly amounts!!
Sorry to moan

The advice we give on the Amazon thread (ebay etc board....) is to match the lowest priced book, not to undercut - there are 2 reasons - firstly your rival seller will see that he doesn't have the 'lowest price' banner next to his book and will feel peeved enough to go and undercut you and secondly some of the bigger players have software that automatically undercuts the prices.
Your book will sell because you've (hopefully) offered the best service in your description0
