I need to buy a pc for under £300 and wondered if anyone had any recommendations.
It is mainly for browsing the internet and a bit of ms word so doesn't need a good graphics card, speakers etc. As much memory as poss and a decent (ish) hard drive. Any suggestions anyone?
Cheers.

Does it have to be a desktop ?
Reason I ask, is that whilst in Tescos today I noticed their £328 15" Windows 7 laptop with 3gb Ram, 160gb hd etc... T3000 Dual core processor (1.8 iirc)
another £30ish gets you the Tosh with a 320gb HD
Cracking value if you ask me

Tiny little pc, with pretty impressive specs for it's size. Also, its a lot cheaper than you're budget leaving some cash for other things. Just to warn you though, it doesn't come with a monitor/keyboard/mouse.0 -
In Tesco last night I bought an E-Machines EL1200 for £224.10. 16" TFT monitor, 160GB hard drive, 2GB ram DVDWR, Windows Vista basic.
It isn't on the Tesco website though.
This link is to one on another website, but the one on Tesco is new - the link below is to a refurbished one.

from memory the T3000 is a relatively low spec Celeron variant.
If the O/P doesnt need a laptop, why pay more for less functionality?0 -

It may be a Celeron but it's dual core & highly ranked in the mid range of processors, quite a capable cpu............
