Hello,
I came on here in July and talked about mounting debt problems and how i needed some help.
I was asked to post a SOA and you would help me.. Ok here is the reason why I didnt...
Im a really bad dyslexic and am also dyspraxic which means when I am faced with a problem I get myself so so wound up and all confused in my head I was unable to unwind my finances to create a SOA. It really is a total jumble, like going out into a snow storm where you cant see ahead and it makes you freeze.. ( do I make any sense!) so I freeze and stay at that point unable to move ahead..
So I have just about read every single post on every forum for the last few months (really I have phew!) and know a DMP is what I need to do..
But how could I cos I wouldnt know how to do it, who to contact, how to get the info, how to deal with closing down accounts and setting up new ones. I really really need help but know I couldnt access it cos Im so so jumbled..
Cant stop crying now..
Annie.
p.s Ive told my husband all this but he thinks its all too much hassle and would rather stay in debt..

Hi there - I think that one of the best things you can do is to chat to the people on the DMP mutual support thread that runs on this site.
There are several people you can speak to.....let me see if I can find some links for you.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Ok.....click here for the dmp mutual support thread - the guys here have been there done that so will be able to offer you loads of tips, support, and can put up with all questions, rants and frustrations that you will come across.
Also, read here for Martins list of free debt help people - don't think about going to anyone for advice unless they are on this list - there are plenty of sharks out there that will make the most of your vulnerability, so stick to this site and the advice on there, and you will make a good step forward.
You can do this xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hi Annie, as Hypno says, please pop over to the DMP Support Thread, we're all in the same boat, and are a friendly bunch, and will hopefully be able to help you out.

Hi Annie :hello:,
Your husband sounds pretty much like mine sadly...I do feel so alone most days, I am also new here, spent many months reading then finally posted about 2 weeks ago now. I live on the DMP thread, everyone there have supported and helped me through these last few weeks and I no way could have got through it without them. They are wonderful :A
We are all there to help and support and if dont have the answer to your problem we will be able to tell you who to ask to get that answer.
So follow ianmak's link and see you there soon hopefully,
if you don't fancy writing the same thing again just copy and paste it.
Come over as soon as you can, you really will feel better, every baby step forward is a step in the right direction.
Everything will be ok Annie.
Hang in there!

Hi Annie, hope you are ok. You have definitely done the right thing and come to the right place. It's so so hard facing up to your finances and then going through the process of sorting everything out, endless phone calls and letter-writing and all the stress that involves, it seems insurmountable at first but you just need to do things one small step at a time. If I hadn't found this site I definitely wouldn't have got this far (three months into a DMP with Payplan and actually able to function and enjoy life now), I felt totally on my own and terrified. Nothing you can say or that happens fazes anyone here - there's always someone who has been through what you have and will know what to do, and everyone is so supportive. Also National Debtline are wonderful, I've cried down the phone to them a good few times! It does get better, and as Martin L says, there is no debt problem that cannot be solved.

Hello Annie and welcome. You could log on to the CCCS website and try typing in on their debt remedy - it will give you some idea of what to do, and they are very supportive. Payplan is another similiar organisation that has been mentioned. If your dyspraxia will allow, start sorting out your paperwork relating to all your debts, then try doing a Statement of Affairs on here- link at top of forum as you may already know. If you can get over that hurdle (and you can if you put your mind to it) you will open the doors to a flood of suggestions on how to tidy up your affairs and start budgeting. Your debt picture may look scary to you but I am sure it is no worse than some we see on here and nobody is going to string you up or shoot you down in flames for it. Why not? Because lots of us on here have been idiots with money at some time, you are not the first and you will not be the last. Hope to hear from you again soon. One life - your life - live it!0

Hiya Annie,
My daughter is dyspraxic so I can sympathise my lovely. Could you manage to make an appointment with the Citizens Advice Bureau and get a debt advisor assigned to you? Then you would have someone to wade through it all with you and help you access help from others. http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/
Needless to say we'll help all we can. Could you have a go at a spending diary? or maybe do your SOA in little bits? For instance, decide that you are going to fill in the gas and electric bit. look it up on your bank statement, type it in and then save. The next time you feel able, do phone and internet, and then another chucnk until it's all completed.
If you can do the finding out how much you pay each month part but no more one of us can start filling in a SOA for you.
Feeling paralysed and panicked is pretty blummen normal in this situation to be honest. I remeber not being able to do anything and wandering around muttering
Oh
My
God.
under my breath all the time.
Nargleblast is right about the Debt Remedy at CCCS being a good idea . You could use the same bitesize chunk and save method to get that done too.
Take care chick,
Love Jacks xxx
PS My hubby was like yours at first - it's their form of paralysis and panic. Mine came around, and I hope yours will too.Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -
I have phoned CCCS and they have advise DMP so after talking to my husband Ill start on that!!
Here Goes.. Thanks for all your help xxx0/4500 -
hi
good luck with it all--just like to add to all the great advice you have been given--do you have any help with your dyslexia/ dyspraxia? Have you contacted the charities at all? they may be able to help with the practicle side of things, form filling, timing and so on.
When my dd was ill some local charities gave us great help.
Sometimes CAB will help with form filling, even if they don't have the answers for you.
