Which raises some interesting questions ....

Do the EuroMillions people KNOW the numbers printed on ALL the tickets that were to be included in today's Daily Mail ?
If not then there could be 3 winners or more

If one (or both ? Would there be any duplicates in these DM ones?) of the winning tickets are the giveaways, what happens if the newspaper isn't purchased, ticket discarded etc. etc. ?
I'm sure a VERY large proportion of these will NEVER be opened and checked.
Terms and conditions for Euromillions: The EuroMillions syndicate game will run for 4 weeks. The Mail has purchased EuroMillions entries into each of the EuroMillions draws on 30/10/09, 6/11/09, 13/11/09 and 20/11/09 and the number selections of those entries are printed as syndicate numbers on the game cards in the newspapers. One EuroMillions entry has been purchased for each syndicate number printed on the game card and each game card is identified by the card’s individual serial number. If for any reason the numbers printed on the game card differ from the actual numbers entered into the EuroMillions draw in respect of that serial number, the numbers entered in the relevant EuroMillions draw will be the syndicate number registered against the serial number, and not the numbers that appeared on the game card. There will be more than one other member sharing that syndicate number. Players can claim for a share of the EuroMillions Jackpot only if the five Main Numbers and two Lucky Star Numbers printed on their game card match exactly the five Main Numbers and two Lucky Star Numbers drawn in the relevant EuroMillions Draw. The prize money received by the Mail will be shared equally between all claimants whose game cards feature the correct numbers, once the claimant and game card have been verified by the Mail. The Editor’s decision is final on all matters. Promoter: Daily Mail, London W8 5TT. The promotion is part-funded by Camelot. Camelot has no liability in respect of the EuroMillions Syndicate Game whether in relation to payment of prizes to claimants or otherwise. The numbers on the game card are only valid in the EuroMillions Syndicate Game and cannot be used to claim a prize directly from Camelot.

  • Daily Star Saturday 7th November

I bought The Daily Star this morning, attracted by a small note at the bottom left of the front page stating "GET OK! for £1" "page 30".

On page 30 there is indeed a coupon for OK! magazine, but it is for "£1 off" which, given that the cover price is £2.60, means that the reduced cost is £1.60.

Or have I gone wrong somewhere?

So would that mean you can only win the jackpot and no £10 prizes for only getting a few of the numbers? is that right? (the chances of that are very very rare!) bit misleading of them- would have maybe been worth it if you had the chance of winning a smaller prize.

    No you're right.

Coupon is for £1 and price is £2.60.

I'm guessing the man that does the front page doesn't know/hasn't been told and is still using the "ad" from when the cover price was £2.

Yes I was aware from the "week 1" ticket in last Saturday's DM that it was a JACKPOT ONLY prize.

I never read the T&Cs and obviously didn't know any more of the ins & outs of it.

I got 2 of them and not a single number was duplicated.

As detailed by Fifi Mad Mum, this means that the DM may have bought just a few tickets (at least 2 anyway since my pair are different) but possibly only 50 or a 100.

I'm sure they bought a few more though - with a circulation of well over 2 million, if by the rarest of chances they actually bought a jackpot winning ticket but this was out of a batch of only 100 purchased, then 2,000,000 / 100 = 20,000 in the winning "syndicate"

Even at £90 million (assuming just 1 winning ticket) then it's hardly a life-changing give-up-your-job round-the-world-cruise jackpot winning amount :(

    90,000,000 / 20,000 = £4,500

1000 entries would only yield £45,000 - nice but no cigar !

Odds of winning the jackpot in our own Lotto lottery are just undar 14 million to 1

Odds of the Euromillion jackpot? 76 million to 1
