Please please PLEASE let me know if it's still possible to buy traditional (or even energy saving) light bulbs that have a hint of peach or apricot ANYWHERE in Northern Ireland.
They were always a bit hard to find, but in the past Sainsburys and Homebase used to stock them ....now they don't.

No, you won't find them as all pearl/opaque bulbs have been banned. Only clear tungsten bulbs below 100W still remain on sale. You may find a warm white CFL will be the closest you'll get to a peach colour.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

There is no ban on different bulb finishes per say, it is more to do with the type of light and as you say below 100w only ATM. Equally there is no ban yet- manufacturers are phasing them out.
From memory softtone bulbs had a patchy uptake. We often struggled on stock and sales were sporadic. The off white and then the 'pink' apricot bulbs we used to sell were stopped in about 2005/6! Your best bet is to look at the internet.0 -

I thought all tungsten pearl bulbs weren't allowed to be manufactured or imported into Europe any more?Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
An interior designer once told me that he paints bulbs with a tester pot of emulsion paint when he wants to achieve a warmer look to the room.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

Surelythe paint would cause the bulb to explode? It would have on the old ones.Whoo hoo! norn iron club member# 395!0 -

I can still get 100W bulbs in Belfast... am scared to say where though in case you all buy up the entire stock!!! :rotfl:
I hate the energy saving ones (too slow and dim, I'm not runing my eyesight for the sake of saving a few quid on the leccy), and they contain mercury so they're dangerous too.Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs
