orange skins apparently work, although you'll have to pick them up and move them when they go in there.
Good luck - I've put copper stuff under my garden and then watched as the slugs and snails all moved home!!!

you only have to pick the orange skins up, apparently they go inside them....
the copper stuff is a matting I bought from Homebase, I guess any garden centre will sell it though. You lay it under a layer of soil or however you can, slugs and snails don't like copper so anything with copper really sends them packing. I guess you could use old copper piping, or copper wire or similar.

Best thing is to get a pair of gloves and pick them up. Once you've done that you can mow the grass. They don't like sunlight so will hide during the day in shady places, so best time to get them is around 5am and/or just after it's rained. I can't bring myself to kill them so I chuck them over onto the railway embankment; I know they potentially come back but I'd feel worse if I killed them manually. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

Can I ask why you want to kill the snails?
If you have a veg garden I can understand, but otherwise
Cut the grass, or lay new lawn, basically get rid of their habitat and they will disperse by themselves.
Or get the kids to have snail races, great fun!“Pleasure of love lasts but a moment, pain of love lasts a lifetime.”0 -
I'm trying copper strips to deter snails, but over the weekend a friend suggested that if you have a secure garden you can get rehomeable hedgehogs from aminal rescue centres. I thought this was quite sweet!I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.
