TMK is it a real name or just something you made up? Who do you bank with?
I bank with RBS.:o:o Its in the name Abbie + my surname (sorry for typing it like that, just wouldn't like it to show up in a search ) and we don't have an Abbie. I chose that name coz my SIL has the same name as me and I wasn't winning anything and felt if my name was at the other end of the alphabet..............and actually I did win loads under that name but was always careful to use my own name in comps for money or vouchers or tix etc. Anyhoo I forget that day what I was doing and autofilled it and...........well the rest is history
:o:o £500 down the swanee
:(:( serves me bloody right
lisa88mph "Can you not sign it on the back as your signature will match the one on your account and put it in the quick deposit and hope they won't notice? Could try it? I'm sure if there is a problem with it at the bank they will contact you?"
I haven't tried that actually, just thought with it being for that amount they might check it more carefully, but its an idea :cool:0 -

yes I'm still here, just lurking & comping
I have a hyphenated surname and often used to get ebay cheques paid to my (tsb)account using the last part only, got a warning for it a few times but they always honoured the cheques. might be worth trying if its something like that?
edit - aslo i used to use the self pay in cashmachines so no one looked closely!!0 -
kind of back and kind of not. im lurking about periodically, while thinking i should be doing other things.
tmk still might be worth one more letter, shame on mcvitties for being so awkward about paying out though, big company like that should be better if theyre going to run comps. or try paying it in anyway, same surname the bank might not notice. i use my middle name, so checks come in that, and my bank account was in real first name for years, if i went in with a check they fussed and wanted extra id etc etc and finally i changed it to show my middle name since it would then agree with passport etc, but stick it in an envelope and in the mail with a pay in slip or account details and never any problems.0 -
There are some money-transfer places that cash cheques. I don't know what the procedure is though. Maybe they'll cash it for you.SECRET TO WINNING PRIZES

I would have thought the only query would come if the McV's declined to clear it. If you have any emails to show the bank I would see the manager.0
