OK today my new tax credits came through. Just a quick recap, we knew we had been overpaid as we had made more than we had estiamted, our worry was how much more and how would this affect what we get each month, which like most people we need if we are to scrape by.
Anyway todays post informed us we had been over paid by just under £700, BUT because our wages will be considerably less this year (last year we got so much due to a payout from OH work) our credits EVEN with the overpayment being deducted has doubled:beer: once all the repayments have been made which will be by september it will go up again.
So i sat down today and did a new SOA and relooked at things. What wit the reductions we have already made, huge thanks to here of course:T , and with those still to make (and there are some) plus the extra each month we can really start paying of those CC.:D
Basically whilst sitting down and looking at all the figures it suddenly dawned on me that it is a real possibility for us to be debt free (except for our loan which still has a about 4 years left) in a max of 3 years:j hopefully less, but i am sort of taking unexpected costs and of course xmas and birthdays etc into account.
We owe about £15 thou (loan excluded) and what with interest i was really thinking it would take about 5 or more years to pay off, it was a depressing thought and sometimes i found that looking at it made my motivation tremble a bit.:o
However realising today it could be done, with extremely tightened belts of course, in a max of 3 years has made me beam. Now i am all re-motivated and for the first time in what seems like forever i can actually see and feel that warm light at the end of the dark cold debt tunnel.
It means that, fingers crossed, i could be completely out of debt by my 33 birthday, and i also realised that once the debt is gone, if we pay about 2 thirds of what we had been paying towards the debts into a savings account we could have a nice little nest egg built up in a couple of years and that dream of owning our home will become more of a reality than just seemingly impossible dream.
But what has really made me cry with joy is that if we acheive this 3 year plan we will be out of debt before our eldest goes to uni and for once we will be in a position to actully really help our children and put some security aside for their future.
Thank you to everyone who has given advice, support and just made me smile on here, and thank you martin for all you do for us:A
And just in case you thought you where getting rid of me i am not going anywhere for at least three years anyway:rotfl:
