I think the OP must be talking about Threshers etc.
Dont expect any real bargains compared to supermarkets due to the tax and duty part of the price. They are usually far more expensive to start with.0 -
I've heard talk (unconfirmed) of a 50% reduction - still pretty cheap by anyone's measure. Besides, Haddows is hardly a very pricey offsales0
-
They still cant go below the fixed combined amount for tax and duty, and thats a big percentage. Not saying you wont get some bargains but when you look at prices it may not be as good as you think.
I dont know Haddows, where i am its Threshers and they arent cheap.0 -
Don't know about anywhere else, but just been to the Local store round the corner from me to get a bottle of Merlot, and it has big signs in the window saying Everything Must Go, and a notice stating that the company has gone into administration.
The discounts in the shop are 25% off wine, 10% off pretty much everything else (beer/soft drinks/spirits), no discount on tobacco... so no big savings.

I think it is terrible how so many companies manage to do this kind of thing this late in the year, it must ruin an awful lot of family Christmasses. I would rather all the employees still had jobs for the forseeable future than get a bit of cheap booze.0 -
I go to Home bargains and get bottles of real ale. I got a couple of 500ml bottles of IPA at 79p a bottle and other bottled beers from 99p for 500ml up to £1;12. The same bottles as Tesco are selling at between £1.50 to over £20

There are some good discounts - 40% off champagne, 40% off fortified wines, as well as 25% off wines and 10% off everything else.
The good thing is that these reductions are on top of any other reduction marked on the bottles (blue labels). I got a selection of wines for £2.40 - £4.20 (full prices £6.99 - £12.00) and some vintage port for £11. They don't give the extra reduction on the promotional prices (red labels) though.
I think I will pop in again tonight and see if anything else has been marked down...0
