    Make sure the address in the window starts https:// ... especially the 's' at the end, that means its secure. Also, on some browsers, you will see a little padlock icon on the bottom right hand corner. HTH
  • Check that there's other ways of communicating with them other than the website/e-mail such as postal address and telephone number.
    Read through terms and conditions.
    If you're buying anything expensive put it on your credit card even if you plan to pay in full straightaway as most credit cards have pretty good protection should things go wrong.
