I've gone right off TV. When it is good, it can be brilliant (the simpsons, twin peaks, first getting into the x-files, or 24). Most of it is rubbish. Rather read a good book - really have got into reading in the past 12 months.

I wouldn't want to live in a world with out books or music. I read, and read, and read.

I know cds are replaceable, but I'm less rational when it comes to music!I'm totally irational when it comes to my pets.

If you don't have one lir, get a digital radio. The extra stations are well worth investigating.I don't yet. I want one, but not buying till we move. MAybe for the car though....

I love different types of music. Music is so fluid & changeable. It can mean quite different things to different people sometimes. I love having a wide variety of choic

es, as what I want to listen to changes so drastically, depending on my mood, & what time of day it is, & how things are going.

Exactly! I have a very pronouced physical reaction to some music, almost every day.

I get the pronounced reaction completely!

regarding the digital radio, I assume (from your posts) you're keeping a tight reign on finances? you can pick up a DAB now for between £10-20 if you shop around.

I think the ones for the car aren't well developed at the moment & don't work very well. Interestingly, listened to a debate on the radio about that approx 1 month ago, as there aren't really any car suitable models out there for people to buy, & other people are concerned re the forthcoming switchover.

Do you have freeview? The extra radio channels are on that? I think you're rural, so don't know what the coverage is like where-ever you are...
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

I reign over tight reins. :) We've actually been a bit lavish on the spending this year, but I'm anti stuff. We have run out of room. Totally, utterly and completely. No more stuff.

I do have freeview. I use it for the radio a lot, but I use it off a portable arial, which can at times be frustrating. :)

Bet it isn't as dreadful as round here.

I start off on Radio4 when taking DD2 to the station every morning, but half way down the hill I have to switch to Radio Devon as that's all it will find at that level, and by the time we're in the valley bottom it's strictly smoke signals and tom-toms. Doesn't matter there anyway; the junction is so dangerous we go to radio silence and open window for the last 20 metres!

I thought the only people who listened to Radio 1 (during the day at least) were 14 year olds who like auto-tuned ringtone music. Tinchy Stryder, that type of thing. Nang, innit? Or people who think Hard-Fi and Kasabian are good.

I've personally not listed to Radio 1 since Sir John Peel died.

Cleaver, you and I verge on the young fogey. I don't know what happene to radio one/me but I can't seem to ...like it.
i remember someone here once saying that we were all too old/soft to appreciate his choice in music and I got the giggles, because I relaise that I certainly have become a bit young fogey, but....well, I lived that music once. (which might be why I'm so worn out now, :rotfl:)
