Hello
My brother is getting married in August to his long term fiancee. Now the wedding is going ahead her parents - well mother - want us all to 'get to know each other' which is a bit of a shock for us as we're not exactly a 'close' family (no bad reason, we do all love each other, but there's just mum, me and him)
Last year they bought us a watch and a necklace (meaning me and mum) and we met them for the first time when we went to their house for dinner - all millions of courses of it on Boxing Day which was sprang on us at the last moment by my brother who had known well before he got here on Xmas Eve.
When there, she made her interest in us all being "family!!!!" clear and talking about holidays and all that jazz
All well and done for them - being retired from being a GP and a consultant with 2 of their 3 doctors also doctors!)
Anyway, I digress. My question is - now we have warning this year and don't have to buy a bunch of flowers on the run like last year - what do we buy?
They are ex doctors in their early 60's, Indian, very religious (Hindi) so obviously alcohol is out but I don't know what else is? I really don't want to offend them because they're lovely - but I don't know very much about them and I don't know if anything else is not allowed.
Be appreciated it if anyone has any reasonably priced ideas that could suit both of them

how about asking your brothers fiancee? Say that you would like to give her parents a gift and does she know of anything they would particularly like?0

I've tried that my love
We're not... fantastically close (read as my mum doesn't like her). My brother is the worlds worst person for keeping in touch (we've seen him once since 27th Dec last year and spoke to him twice. He doesn't reply to emails or texts) and he's all around the world on business at short notice so it's hard to get him in one place to actually ring him.

I'm not sure that Hindus celebrate Christmas - probably best to google. Having just done this - they don't - but around about the time of our Christmas they celebrate Pancha Ganapati.
Perhaps if you did a little bit of research you could find something that is relevant to this festival and give this.
look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pancha_Ganapati
