A friend of mine has an 03 Passat and the drivers electric window has stopped working. Apparently as well as the motor (?) needing replaced, its damaged the internal cabling that maneuvre the window up and down...
Hes been quoted £90 for the part from VW and £200 for the labour to fit. Apparently its an awful job to do and you need to have done it previously to do it - so much so that Agnews are confident that even if he just buys the part, he'll have to come back to them to have it fitted.
Does anyone know of any VW specialists around the city who could do this sort of thing?
Thanks in advance...

Try GSF off Boucher Road for the part. There is a guy on the Sandown Road (off Upper Newtownards Road in East Belfast) who specialises in Volkswagens. His name is Davy and the number is 02890 473798. He is in the grounds of Stock Brothers but is independent.

Try Walsh Motors. They are an independent VAG specialist, and I can highly recommend them.

The Volks Workshop in the industrial units at the bottom of Hannahstown Hill, over in West Belfast, Phone: 9062 1385
The owner, Billy Donnelly, worked in Agnew's for over 30 years. It sounds like the regulator has gone and should cost about £140 all in to supply and fit. It's a common enough fault with that age of Passat. I had to have both the driver's and front passenger's replaced.0 -
I had a Passat a few years ago (Sharan now) and both my mechanisms front went.
I replaced them myself and bought spare parts from car dismantlers I think it only cost me around £30-£40 for each at the time!!
I have no real experience with cars but I used to have a couple of Cavaliers which I worked around!!
The window mechanisms in the Passat can be very fidgety that’s the only thing but it maybe worth a go!!0 -
Try universal autos unit 13 Farset Business park, 638 Springfield rd BT12 7DY, 028 90200300 another Ex Agnews Mechanic specialising in VW Audi, he does the failed elec windows all the time, usualy a regulator, stay well away from main dealers (stealers). Dont try it yourself! Its messy! Mechanics can buy parts 25-40% cheaper than the public!0
