Been Ripped Off I think By A Solictors. Please Help!
Hi
If this is in the wrong thread, please can you move this for me. I really did not know where to put it - thanks!
My partner has his own business and a few months ago work was very slow so we got behind with paying wholesalers and had to stop using them and start making monthly payments to reduce the debt.
We owed one wholesaler £748 and I asked if I could pay £100 to them each month. They agreed but still passed our file onto LCL Legal solicitors and I had to ring and pay them instead of the wholesaler the money each month. Anyway I was down to paying the last £48 this month when yesterday I received a CCJ against us through the post. We had received no forms or anything before this. I thought we had a right to defend ourselves?? The CCJ was for £248!!!! I have just rang the solicitors (the day after I received the paperwork which was dated 1st November) and they have told me that my debt is now £348 as baillifs have been instructed. Can they do this please? It seems to me that I have paid the debt as I said I would and they don't like it so have taken me to court (without telling me) for the last £48 to make money. I don't know what to do now. I can just about pay it but feel that I have seriously been conned...
Any help would be gratefully received. Thank you

If you have proof that you have paid the debit then immediately contact the court who issued the CCJ. Inform that you received no notice of proceedings against you and that you have proof that you paid the amount contested offI'm not cynical I'm realistic

Hi I have proof I have paid the £700 off but wasn't due to pay the £48 yet. They have taken me to court for the £48 which I haven't paid but am not late paying, if that makes sense?!0

If they have taken you to court for £48 but you received no paper work informing you that they were going to take court action for £48 you should still contact the court.
Unfortunately you are now going to have to do this tomorrow morning.
Once you have contacted the court and they have given you information on how to get the judgement set aside, as soon is it is done pay the £48 immediately.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
