it's a standard frascati bottle, 2005, secco, from Italy.
The store I got it from is a former KiwkSave, don't know if that makes any difference?

Could be clearance of the old KwikSave stuff.

However there should still be a brand name on the bottle and the barcode might help .

nipped into somerfiedl just on the off-chance and spotted 4 bottles hding behind the £1.49 label.

I did notice some other Venier Frascati, but the bargain stuff is in shorter, wider bottles, rather than the standard wine bottle shape.

£5.96 for 4 bottles beats the 6 bottles of stowells pinot grigio/chardonnay that I got from asda for £17.77 (£2.97 a bottle) about 30 mins earlier but OH is happy with both wines.

"Why the reluctance to give the name & barcode?"

...I posted the make ages ago, venier frascati, squat type bottle.

barcode? jeez you want the barcode numbers for what? reluctant? no, just got a life. nice to make that point tho' tom.

are you gonna check the barcodes of various bottles?

I didn't expect the spanish inquisition. you 2 wanna come round to my house and see the receipts? maybe you should both drive to hollins road, oldham and check the barcode in-store???

I suggest you read the thread from the beginning.
THIS is the FIRST time YOU'VE mentioned that it's VENIER
I said that I'd found Frascati - brands Venier & Villa Primavera - in Somerfield neither at £1.49
Up to then all you'd said was "it's a standard frascati bottle, 2005, secco, from Italy"

As for the barcode - that it the thing that all supermarkets use to identify a product.
You tell us the barcode - I ask Somerfield to enter the barcode on their computer - they tell me if it is a product of theirs, if it is what stock level and how much it costs. Easy!

As for "are you gonna check the barcodes of various bottles?" QUITE POSSIBLY.

There was a FANTASTIC offer in ASDA a while ago - something available for a few pence rather than several pounds. Looked like a misprice but some bought it cheap others paid normal price - a bit of confusion initially.
The item was available with 2 different barcodes - 1 for pence & 1 for ££££££££ - because of a minor change to the product itself it turned out.
Once the cheap barcode was listed we knew what we were looking for !

    Quoia,

I thought that real1314 had not mentioned the make but if you look at post #10 the name VENIER is at the top of the post in bold in the title box.

I think this is a good bargain and will look in my Somerfield tomorrow.

    Thanks real1314 for the info.

Thanks for pointing that out - I stand "corrected" - but what a "silly" place to put it - why use the "title" and not put it in the MESSAGE, surely that what's the message is for ?
I, obviously others, and yourself until this moment, had failed to see this, after all is is very clear isn't it ?
The barcode would still provide all the answers !

What "answers" would the barcode provide? I think you'd have more sucess and take less time by looking for a squat shaped venier frascati 2005 bottle than by looking though barcodes. mind you. it seems that you aren't so much bothered that you can't find it in-store, but you just want to check with somerfield that they stock this product at the price I've quoted. Why do you want to do this? Are you the "grabbit" police or something?

and sorry I'm so "silly", but then again, someone who's not read the thread before could spot it, whereas you have missed it repeatedly. It was only the first few words on the post IN BOLD. I'll await your apology eh?
