If you are employed by a company for 10 years you are entitled to 10 weeks notice.

    No question.

    Full stop.

    Nothing to do with redundancy

Could you contact Morrisons H.R. dept. and ask them. Otherwise I'd check with the C.A.B.

Although the OP says contract was terminated i wonder if he was under contract (yearly or otherwise) or just employed, perhaps he could clarify.

i am unaware of Morrisons ever using periodic contracts for staff.

Not in my knowledge - your notice period would be contractual and could be a week, a month, 3 months etc. On what basis would 10 years mean 10 weeks? I'm happy to be corrected :)
  • The Morrisons staff handbook says that if the company terminates employment the notice period is "1 week for every completed year of service" (maximum is 12 weeks), although it can be changed "by mutual agreement".
