Does it get easier?

Options
Hi I am new to the forum. Having been using moneysavingexpert.com for sometime. Things finally came to ahead two weeks ago. I went to CAB last week, I have sent the last of my budget plans off today to my creditors. I am still not sleeping, waiting for the replies. Everytime i put the tv on its an advert for loans or credit cards! My question is does it get a little easier?

    Hi & welcome.

It sounds like you've done some very hard stuff all on your own. I'm fairly new but there's a great community here and loads of support and ideas, as you will know if you've been lurking for a while. I'm sure things will get easier once plans are in place and you can see a way forward.

    Keep posting... xx

dont worry - of course it gets better - once your creditors start to receive their regular reduced payments they will calm down.

Just keep asking yourself - "what can they do?"

As long as you offer them what you can comfortably afford, they cannot do anything, if they want to go for a CCJ, then let them, you wont be expected to pay anymore to a ccj (the court will just ask you to fill out the SOA form the same as the CAB will have prepared for you)

They cannot send bailiffs or send you to jail (this would only happen in very extreme cases where someone refused to pay their debts but had the money)

Honestly, life too short to worry about numbers on a computer somewhere!!

Get out and enjoy the sun while its here (well the little bits of sun anyway!)

    Hey there

Well done on contacting CAB. There will generally always be someone here to offer advice and support so you have come to the right place.

I think it is best not to put the tv on really well maybe apart from the BBC channels! I can't believe how many loan adverts there are as well! Did you see Martin Lewis' campaign? http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=192581

Is there anyway we can help? May be you would like to post a 'Statement of Affairs' (SOA) up here and we can try and help you cut back? Look at this post for details of posting an SOA...

Take care and post again soon!

  • Thank you allfor your kind words. I have found it a little easier since reading the forum last night and today, the feeling of being totally alone is lifting slightly. I think once the replies have started arriving i may feel a little better. at the moment i lay in bed just waiting for someone to come and take everything away. i think its the fear of the unknown.

I am probably about two weeks behind lightatendoftunnel and looking to set up a DMP very soon.

We have so far managed our debts ok, but I have just lost my job and was the main income in the family. Mr Spud works full time but only earns enough to cover the essential bills . I am hoping tax credits will increase enough to cover food and clothing etc. We have two children.

Who do you all recommend to help with a DMP?

    CAB, CCCS, Payplan?

I have been with CCCS for 2 years now, have not got anything bad to say about them and thier service (online now)

    I would give them 10/10

    Sorted me out.
