If I have a default on my credit rating is there a company that anyone could recommend to use as I am looking for a personal loan.

Sometimes if you approach your own bank (and have managed your accounts well) they will approve you as they will have more knowledge of your financial history/situation.

Or, depending on what you need the loan for, sometimes a credit union is able to help - as they lend based on affordability rather than credit rating.

Association of Britsh Credit Unions - its a financial co-operative where members save money and borrow money with a community. They are usually either area specific or town specific or sometimes specific to an employer or industry - more info and a search to find your local ones can be found here - http://www.abcul.org/page/index.cfm

They are not necessarily the cheapest loans available but can be useful to help people who cannot get mainstream credit and are way cheaper than most subprime lenders and way way cheaper than payday loan companies and loan sharks.
