Yay! I'll be debt free before summer's out!

Options
It's just dawned on me whilst making my monthly CC payment. Only 2 more to go and I'll be debt free!!! Approx £4.5k initially and now only £770 to go.

Boy do I feel good!

I've just made my first foray into the world of savings - joining the £2 club.

See everybody - it is possible :D

Thanks MSE!

That's brilliant... It must feel great, I've a long way to go, how long did it take you? I bought a handbag from OXFAM today for a wedding in N Ireland my O/H and I are going to tomorrow. We're flying out tonight ( he paid for the flight, staying with his parents) so I won't spend alot really....

    Well done!

Well I've been struggling since I left home at 17 (I'm now 24) and at least 2k was left from that time. I'd draw out cash on the CC to pay bills, then get another card to pay off the first - that kind of thing. Nothing extravagent but basic living expenses - rent, car insurance, basic things I couldn't afford.

My hubby knew I had debts but I always told porkies on how much and so spent money as a smoke screen to him. I finally came clean in November last year and he has supported me through it all.

I don't earn bad money and have enough surplus each month to make large payments, my problem was the spending instead of debt payment. So I gave myself £100 a month as my 'spending' money and he helped me stick to that. The £100 was from an extra cleaning job I did, which I will be finishing this week. So I now get my weekends back too! :)

P.S. Enjoy your break LittleL. We all need something to keep us going.

Sounds like you have a great hubby and very understanding. I also used to take money from my c/c, but absolutely NO MORE!!!

Sounds like your plan has paid off. I've been watching the pennies for about a week now ( I know it's not that long) and have noticed a difference already. It definitely works if you stick to a budget.

I'm kinda looking forward to the break. Think I'll treat myself and O/H to a wee G&T in the departure lounge.... can't be good all the time....

I'm also waiting to hear from the bank this (pm) they charged me £60 last week for a d/d that should'nt have been taken, I'm sure i'll get it re-imbursed, if not, I'll sue!!!! Just like that...

    Enjoy your work free weekend

I am hoping all my credit card debt will be ggone in 2 months ( £490 to go) then I will only have my overdraft to tackle!
If my car hadn't had to have £170 paid on it today I might have been able to pay it all off next month.
