Every estate agent in NW & Greater Manchester I pass is empty

I travel alot and I find that everywhere I go, if I pass an estate agents, its always totally empty. I ever went past Oystons in Blackpool last week and there was only one lady in there looking extremely bored with the door locked. She tried to drag me in but I made my excuses and walked on. Everywhere, from Rochdale to Dukinfield to Bolton. All totally empty with the odd person on a phone or tapping a computer. Only cash rich buying at the moment. Looks like we are heading for some possibly big drops now over the next 2 years, I can't see it being any other way after all the str have finished jumping back in and the bankers have finished sploshing our taxes on their new homes, who does that leave?
I'm prepaired to wait to see what happens, only thing I'm loosing is being settled in my own home as I hate renting... Life on hold but will it be worth it?..Only time will tell..In the time being, I'm trying to save even more deposit (I'll have a holiday one day)..

Where is Hamish to tell us there are queues lining up outside the estate agents in Aberdeen?0

I'm not playing this forum game. When your driving about, just take a look in the odd estate agents and see for yourself. I'm not saying this is the case throughout the UK, just Greater Manchester and parts of Lancashire. I could take photos to prove my point but I guess someone would say I waited until there was nobody in. I'm sure Aberdeen has mass lines of people wanting to buy but from what I've seen, I'm happy to wait for now. Maybe I missed the boat again..0

Chucky, you don't have to thank my posts, I'm well aware we have a difference of opinion in where the average house price is going over the next few years. When everyones not slagging each other off, I'm quite happy to read a 'bulls' argument and take knowledge from it but for me personally, it's not been enough to overborrow to buy something I feel is still vastly overpriced. There is a point where I will buy and I hope that to be within the next 12 months though I think the UKs economic problems will still be with us long after I'm 6ft under. If I've missed the bottom in April (which was/ is still market peak) I will have no option but to either: 1. But an overpriced house 2. Leave the UK if my pound is worth anything at all. Time will tell..0

Well I know someone who set up a EA 2 years ago this was online only at first through web site and rightmove. Earlier this year he rented a shop the owner is also a EA. Well he is very busy this year and someone just went into partnership and now do renting.
In fact my MIL sold her house with him I didnt ask her to go with him but she knows I know them very well. Just sold the house for 375k (asking price was 395k) for 3 bedroom bungalow with big garden its a one-off bungalow, she exchanges next week for another house 3 bedroom semi for 175k0 -
They must all be out on viewings.:)
But the real reason is that in the week they are only ever taking calls booking appointments and going out to houses to put on the market.
The only time EA offices get busy is on the weekend.
When I purchased and sold last time I never went to 1 EA office.0 -
Are EA's ever busy? Don't people just walk in, register their details and property requirements, and that's it?
I spent about 10 minutes altogether in EA's when I bought my place, 5 minutes for each one I signed up to.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
