Credit reports - removing associates
Hi all, I'm new to this so bear with me!
I've just checked my credit report (Equifax) for the first time after being refused a payment plan for a new computer. It would seem I have one 'default' from '07 when I refused (stupidly) to stop paying a mobile phone company my monthly payment as they would not issue me a new SIM card... no sense in paying if I can't use the phone, right?! I contested for months but they were having none of it... anyway, sorry. Is this something I can contest or am I liable for my own stupidity? All other credit agreements were settled around '06 - '08 with only a couple of late payments.
I've also noticed I have an ex-parnter associated to my report. We split up nigh on 5 years ago. She has a lot of bad credit and I was wondering if this would affect me? Also, does anyone know how I should go about removing her?
Many thanks for your help in anticipation!

I would close the assosiated credit link, you can do this by writting to the cra's. Inregards to the default, you are liable for the contract until the end, why would they not issue you a new simcard?0

I lost the sim card and their insurance people wouldn't issue me another because I had no record of the card number - it wasn't their policy, could have been fraud!
I wasn't aware this was something you needed to keep. It wasn't a particularly new phone either so the box had been chucked as well!
Thank for the advice. I don't understand though, we never had any joint policies. No joint loans, credit cards, bank accounts etc. She was only ever on my council tax...0
