If you paid 300k in income tax in 5 months then God knows how much your earning would have been?
Surely you would have lots of savings and assets in Gold bars/paintings etc0 -

Actually, you dont have to wait until the end of the tax year to claim a refund - to do so is not moneysaving. You can download a form P50 from www.hmrc.gov.uk and send it to your tax office with your P45. If you are unsure whether you will work or claim in this tax year, you can claim an unemployment repayment every 4 weeks. If you are definitely not going to work or claim this tax year, you can claim a cessation repayment.
