As you will see quite a lot of the discounts have suddenly become invalid over the last couple of days but some still work.

BTW don't know if it is mentioned but you buyone item at a time & that allows you to use another discount voucher.

  • Whilst I appreciate this board is not the place for discussions, I felt the need to disagree with your comments surrounding the fact that the film is currently politically incorrect. The tragedies and horrors currently being inflicted on the Asian and African continents should serve as a constant reminder of how fragile the balance of nature is. As such I believe more people need to watch films like, 'The Day After Tomorrow', and hopefully understand what will happen to this world of ours if we continue to rape and pollute it.

I hasten to add that I am in no way comparing the happenings in Africa and Asia with a work of fiction to entertain the masses!

I know the film in question is a work of fiction, but fiction has a habit of turning in to fact.

Biglugs, I watched the film two days ago, my understanding was that whilst there was a tidal wave the focus of the deaths surrounded the sudden drop in temperature, and not the tidal wave.

I've seen the film too and understand fully how the tidal wave came about.  I just think it's in very poor taste for companies to be heavily promoting it at the present time.
I take the view that Tesco are simply showing that they are so big and arrogant they couldn't give a stuff about how anyone is feeling at the moment.

p.s. I also think £2.98 for this movie on VHS isn't that great a bargain.

  • I take your point.

I work in a warehouse (run by Wincanton) that holds Tesco non-food stock. A week or so ago we had a director of Tesco ringing up (8 o'clock at night) to tell us that he was sending a lorry to us immediately to collect mens and womens jeans, trainers, t-shirts and fleeces

He had organised a lorry to come straight to us and take these goods down to Gatwick, where they would be given to British families returning to the UK that had lost all their personal effects in the tsunami disaster

I don't work for Tesco, and I wouldn't blame them if they didn't do anything about the tusnami (as they are a large company, and many large companies are only interested in making money), but I receive the impression that they are not totally insensitive about what has happened. I also heard that they gave one hundred thousand pounds to the British Red Cross after the disaster?
Thanks to all who post constructively.

  • I got hold of a good friend of mine this morning, and he has asked me to arrange the memorial service for his mother - he is just back from Thailand, after a week of looking for her.. Apparently what we have seen on TV is minor compared with reality. If someone is missing, unfortunately they are not - they are now dead.

He was one of the ones on the ITV program the other night - She went for Xmas with the man she loved to paradise - and died there... It aint a bad way to go!

Even with this personal, although detatched feeling i can see no problem with this offer - go buy it and give an extra £5.00 to the charities that are so desperately trying to put things right!

I hope I do not offend anyone with this post - just all a but raw!

I certainly don't share the view that Tesco's are flexing their corporate muscles by reducing this item. Surely if this was the case then they would heavily promote tyhe film and possibly raise the price to cash in as much as possible - I think this is highly unlikely though

I would say that IF there is any connection at all with recent events then it is purely a case of supply & demand. It stands to reason that (most) people arent going to want to see this film at the moment so therefore if they envisage that customers arent going to buy the item then they will drop the price.

I reckon though that they just over bought before xmas and are just getting rid of the overstock.

P.S. I hope I don't sound too insensitive, that certainly isnt my intention, I just want to share my opinions on this. ;D ;D
