the best meal my OH ever cooked was fantastic because he used all my favourite foods (and thereby proved that he does listen more than he lets on
).
i bet you could cook anything you know they like, with a bottle of cava (i'm guessing tesco would have some cheap options) and a candle, and they'd love it!:happyhear0 -

ooooohhhhh......how long is a piece of string? This really depends on what your OH thinks is "romantic". What do they like? Dislike? How many courses? Which ones?
I think a romantic meal is largely about the effort you make - not that you need to spend hours in the kitchen, but think very hard about what would really make your OH delighted about what's on the plate.
Also ... ambience. No point in cooking the right dish if you end up sitting on the sofa with a tray on your lap :rotfl:
So ... set the table. Simple fresh flowers. Clean fresh napkins. Soft gentle music in the background - the theme tune to Eastenders doesn't count! :rotfl:
Above all, have a dish you can prepare in advance and simply finish off quickly or just serve up. Nothing romantic in your OH sitting at the table counting the peppercorns whilst you start to prepare Beef Wellington, from scratch!
Tell us what your OH likes and we can think of something.I am also after some cava cheap as poss would like some moet but cant afford that so if anyone knowns the best place for this aswell.
thanks in advance

Lidl do a decent Prosecco (Italian "Cava") for about £4 or £5 I think.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac
