You obviously haven't retuned your Freeview box for a very, very, long time as CBeebies has been on channel 71 for many months now. Try a retune and you might find all sorts of things you didn't know you could get!

Retuning isn't something you need to do on a regular basis but because they have mucked about with the channel numbers a few times it is worth doing every now and then just to get everything where it should be and with the correct name. If I remember rightly Cbeebies was somewhere else before it was on 31.
Shame you can't choose not to have all the pointless quiz channels though.

Depends which box you have. You can delete channels with many of them.

Free Film Four for how long? How will they make it pay?
Are we just getting a taster to wet our appetite?
Maybe it will go back to subscription eventually or pay per view?
Or will they start up a new channel and use this one to advertise it having captured the right audience. If so, will the quality of the free one become diminished so that we agree to pay for better quality?
I know I'm being very sceptical about this but I can’t believe these services are not driven by economics rather than the love of good films

I hope it stays as it is once it's free because they do seem to have great films on there and lots of quality foreign movies. Especially nowadays since BBC seems to have sold out to showing repeat after repeat of Crocodile Dundee’s and the like. Whatever happened to Screen 2 and Moviedrome? Alex Cox where are you?

You are quite right in saying that these decisions are driven by economics. I read somewhere (when another channel that I cant remember the name of, went from ppv to freeview ) that the channel could make more money from the advertising when it was on freeview ( because of the larger audience ) than it could by subscription when it had a smaller ppv audience.

Just seen ad on TV ...

Film Four to be free on satellite, cable and freeview from 23 July.

Quite a large marketing campaign - i counted a large number of A grade celebs in their ad!
