Text work with AQA

Just thought I'd mention on here since so many are looking for work from home, the text questions and answers service AQA are currently hiring researchers in the UK. I've checked their site loads and only today have I seen the UK vacancies.
I've applied but it warns on their site that not many people pass the test - so fingers crossed!

  • ive logged onto aqa63336 site and says there are no uk vacancies??
  • I worked for AQA as a researcher a couple of years back. It was great fun, and I loved doing Fri/ Sat nights when you got all the 'drunk' texts in...I left in the end because AQA were becoming more and more rigid about how you could answer the texts, and whilst I stuck to the rules I really enjoyed feeling that I was giving someone a personal response, instead of having to choose words so carefully that it was almost like speaking to a computer. That's the point at which it stopped being fun for me personally - when I just wanted to be friendly but what they were looking for was a more standardised, impersonal reply.

The money isn't brilliant unless you get a string of easy to answer questions - you are paid based on the number of replies you give, so if you get 10 'hard' questions in an hour, each taking you 6 minutes to research, you will get paid for 10 replies...but in the same time you could have answered 30 easy questions and got paid for 30 replies! So it can be a bit hit and miss, you'll have good nights and bad nights.

They are really good at supporting you - you are allocated a mentor/ supervisor - and keen to help you improve the way you answer questions. Your work is audited at random to ensure it meets certain criteria and you are given targets to meet for word length, grammar, understandability etc.

If you are literate, quick, use your brains and are good at using web search engines, the test shouldn't be too hard! :D Like I say, they were great to work for and they have some incredibly smart people on the payroll.

I was wondering how it works with the hours you can do.... not sure what I can commit to as I have a DD and another on the way... was hoping to do this on and off during the day - does it work like that?

I just pop in now and then.... :)

The hours are totally flexible, although there are busier periods. You can log on and off at your pleasure.

You get paid after the month end for the previous months work.

There is a poster registered on this forum (Paul Cockerton) who is senior at AQA and will probably be able to update on the vacancy situation.
  • I just got an application pack today. I am going to get to work on that tomorow. Wish me luck.
