Papa Johns Free Pizza Discussion

I went to my local papajohns with the offer from the sun that allows you to get a free small pepperoni pizza. When I turned up, the man on the counter started to enter the free offer and then said that their store wasn't participating in the offer! I looked at the terms and conditions when I got back and found that only stores in Ireland, Butlins and Haven holiday parks wern't participating! Nothing about the local one what-so-ever. I wasted my money on The Sun, as I only bought it for the offer.
Is he right or am I right, im sure im supposed to get it?
Anyone else have problems with it??

  • I am typing this while eating my free Papa Johns pizza!! I think they are in the wrong because like you say in t&c it does state that the only stores it is not valid in are Ireland, butlins and Haven.
If it was me I would phone up and ask to speak to the manager. When I went down there they just took my voucher, clicked the link on there computer and entered my phone number.

Good luck everyone and Thank you to all posters xx

I've had a similar problem with a previous Pizza Hut offer. I'm guessing his manager may have told him to say it wasn't accepted if no other order was being placed. They don't like to give away something for nothing! I think though if you're not a Papa Johns customer and get a free pizza from them to try you're more likely to make a purchase next time you fancy a pizza if you like it. All the clever companies know that giving something away free is the best way to get people in!

I've just written in a complaint because of what happened yesterday.
    Long story short;
-Collected tokens, taken them into shop, they said they have 'sold out' of that pizza.
(How could a company that makes fresh pizzas be sold out of fresh dough, cheese and pepperoni??)
-Decided to call up and place an order for 2 x small pepperoni pizzas, the guy on the phone confirmed the order, so I decided to cancel it.

Why did he have to lie? Why not just say we're not doing the promotion?

That was my first experience with Papa Johns and is more than likely to be my last. I have Taste London so get 50% off Pizza Express and Pizza Hut offer fantastic deals through the post, this could have been PJs chance to snatch me away from their rivals but they failed, although I'm sure one customer doesn't matter to them unfortunately.

If you complain to them via their website, you get a new voucher, which gets you a free one sent to you through post. I complained to them and they said they had high unexpected demand of the offer so some papa johns had to stop the offer.

I had the same problem last night when I went to my local Papa Johns. They said they had run out of dough! Of course there were plenty of dough balls sitting on a tray in plain view, probably the wrong size but surely it isn't that hard to make a dough ball SMALLER? I was told that I could use the 2-for-1 offer, but I pointed out that I'd never get through that much pizza on my own!

I live a block away from this store, so it really was a chance for them to gain repeat custom. I'm going to complain via the website. They shouldn't advertise something that they're not prepared to sell.

I just had the same problem at the Papa Johns in West Hampstead (177 West End Lane, London). On Wed and today on Thurs, they had conveniently run out of the dough used for the small pizzas. However, I was also told on the phone, when I enquired, that I could pay the difference for a medium or large, apparently being £3 and £5 respectively.
I decided to go for the £3 option. When I went into the shop, I was immediately told that they were not doing the free pizza deal. They certainly weren't very forthcoming about the 'pay the difference' option I was told about earlier - one little kid who came in after me was immediately turned away without being given the 'pay the difference' option. I reminded them of the option I had been given, and they relented.
However, I then notice that the difference is actually £2 for a medium (the £5 for a large was correct). When I told the guy in charge that the difference was actually £2, he was rude and confrontational. He ignored the fact that the 'pay the difference' option had been mentioned. I would have been ok with paying £3 for a pizza, but everything about the way this shop has handled this free offer felt wrong.
I felt like they thought the free pizza deal was not in their best interests so made up a convenient excuse so that they could get out of honouring it. At the same time, they were rude and treated customers like fools.

I used to order from Papa Johns, not anymore.
