Clothes for charity photoshoot

Morning All,
I work for a small Glasgow charity for adults with learning disabilitiys and we are putting together a magazine with a Hollywood Glam theme. Although we have had lots of help with requests for accessories and make up we desperatly need kilts/tuxes/posh frocks for the photoshoot. I've tried some of the department stores with no luck and was wondering if anyone had any other ideas of who else I could ask for help? All the models are our clients so not size 0. I really want this to be a sucess for them as they have worked so hard.
Any advice would be really appreciated.

Please feel free to move this if you think it should be on the charities board. I thought it would be better here because of our locality.

Thanks in advance

What about smaller shops rather than Department stores, they are more likely to welcome the publicity, or even charity shops, you can get some glam stuff from there. Sorry don't know shops in Glasgow so can't pinpoint particular ones. Good Luck with it though.
    Booo!!!
  • you should try macgregore macduff in town for kilts - i know they provide them for my mates charity (bath street or cathederal street i think)

for dresses maybe try the dress shop (cant remember the name but i'll edit if it comes back to me lol) that is behind BHS on sauchiehall st - its a wedding shop but there used to be a dressmaker in there too who had hire dresses. her name was anna maria n she was soo sweet im sre she would let you have some hire ones for free.

as for the charity stores to check out - try shawlands and the west end - they tend to have better stuff than town most of the time.

ps - its a great thing your doing - i hope it all goes really well and everyone has a great time :D
money cant buy you love....why cant i have both???
currently watching my weight go down....59.5 lbs so far :j

try an add on Gumtree or if you have Scotads in your area place an advert there - both cost nothing to place as advert. Are there any WRI's, Rotary Clubs, what about a flyer placed in local hospital, ask local radio station to put a request out, what about the local Art College so they have textile design students who may want to showcase their designs, local amatuer dramatics groups. if i can think of anything else i will post

    hope this helps

  • Have you thought about contacting some of the costume departments at the local theatres like the Kings and the Theatre Royal? They may have some things they would be happy to lend - they may also have lots of good props.

Thank you all for the ideas !! I felt like i'd hit a wall for a bit there. I hadn't thought of the theatres either. I'm going to phone the college today too.
Thanks again everyone x Hope you'll all take a peek at the mag when it's online xx

    It's learning 'disabilities'.

Try John Lewis - I used to work as a Project Worker for a mental health charity and they used to (and still do) donate end of line fabrics. That was the Aberdeen store though, but it's something to go on. Also try tailors / alteration places and seamstresses.
