Abbey and arrears

I recently was made aware of a very unfair policy by the Abbey. A friend of mine tried to get a further advance but was told that she couldn't as she had arrears on her account and it is policy not to lend extra funds to people with arrears in the last 6 months. "Whats wrong with that?" I hear you type.

Well, the thing is, her arrears were £32 which had been on her account for over 6 months. You see, Abbey have a policy of not sending out letters to customer who are in arrears unless the amount is equal to or greater than 1 months mortgage payment.

So, I am posting this to all you Abbey customers, you should ring up and find out if you have any arrears just in case you are thinking of taking out further borrowing, changing borrow/transfer of equity or porting.

Hope this helps.
