Paying too much tax?

Hi people I picked up my wages last week and got £162net .

But it was £233 gross.

Am I paying too much tax?

It depends on a number of things but primarily what your tax code is, what your income to date is and what other income you have that HMRC is aware of.

Tax on £233 for most people who are paid weekly would be in the region of £22. Even with National Insurance on top is does seem you've paid quite a bit, but it may well be correct for you.

Tax does not work on a weekly basis, so it is impossible to say. Does that include NI as well?

I used to do another cleaning job for 3 hours if I stop this will my tax a national insurance return to normal?

Not automatically no. You will have to arrange it with the taxman.
