I hope that your wife finds it helpful and I hope it helps the both of you.

You always go well it was £2.50 in the paper shop and then £5.60 in the supermarket and £4.50 in the chemist.

And it is not until you write it all down you go  how much was all of that.

At least you both aware that is some work that can be done to get the most bang for your money. It means you can both work on it together.

I wish you and Mrs dazzanator all the best.

Take it easy on a lovely day like today.

Please do post what she thinks of what all us horrible people who have posted ideas :rotfl:

    Yours

hi its mrs dazzanator here i have just read all of this and i am little shocked   at the amount of money what we have spent in less than a week i mean the best part of a 160.00 on food is unbelivable you would have thought that we would have been eating steak moring noon and night instead the once on the amount we have spent
i can see why we dont have much money now we do have cash but just spend it on the wrong things how lovey of you all to take the time to give us ideas how to stop this and start spending our money better 160.00 we could of gone to the seaside this weekend with that
i know most of the spending is me and i think its just habbit i have to buy milk every day and thats were i go wrong instead of just buying the milk i come home with loads of stuff i am not very organced at all and to be honest i buy a lot of thing cause i cant rember if we need it or not im the sort of person who writes a list and then forgets it so there no hope really
i saw that someone asked if i was depressed to be stright with you im just lazy when it comes to cooking and altough it would be nice for me to think that you all thought that i was bad with money and cooking because i was depressed it would not be fair to those who suffer with the illness no so im not ill im just lazy and disorganized when it comes to this kind of thing i hate cooking allthough i have made an efort this week end and have eaten more veg :T
i have worked out apart from the 6100 spent in the suppermarket out of that 160.00 i only needed to spend 23.00  of it so so i have wasted so much money this week i have stared to try and sort the shopping out and have looked at every item i have brought this week and took of all the stuff what was not needed and added stuff like crackers to snack on instead of choc all the time
also i am going to aim to spend no more than 90.00 inculding fags so each week we will have 70.00 to save and i have worked out that is 280.00 per month and at the end of august we could have saved 840.00 to go on hoilday with somthing i didnt think posable this time yesterday
my oh is gobsmaked on the amont of money we have spent and has even joked  that he is going to take the money of me so i cant spend it no wonder he keept on at me to come on here and have a look it is a good place on here it realy is
i will try buying 8 pints of milk so i only have to buy it every other day i would like to say thankyou for all those who have replyed to this espically those who have replyed more than once i dont think you are horrable people i think you are all really kind and that why i wanted to type this out rather than just ask oh to say thanks i have a battle plan for this week using some of the ideas from here and have typed it out at the bottom of this mesage please say what you think and thankyou all again:T :T
    shopping list
to buy only whats my list this week and make sure i have a proper list with me
not to buy as much junk this week
meal plan for breekie lunch and dinner
to buy milk and fags only every other day and nothing else
to put fresh drink under buggy every morring before we leave
to have snacks with me so i dont have to buy them
to make sure appioments dont clash with meal times so lunch can be had at home not the bakers
every time somthing has been used right it in my shopping book so i know what run out and what not when i do my shopping list
buy everything from the same shop
aim to spend no more than 90.00 for the week inculeding fags so the 70 left can be saved to go on hoilday this year::j :j :j

Well hello there Mrs Dazzanator. Im SO glad you werent upset by what we all wrote. Your action plan sounds fantastic, and I think the more you get into the swing of it the tighter you will become and have even more money for all the good things i life, like the seaside and hols. So you will effectively be able to save 240 a month  Where are you off on hols? Monaco? With all that money I suspect you will be able to go anywhere. Also if you skip out some of those chocs you might be on your bikini diet lol for your hols :D

Also dont forget to look on the holidays board as there are often discount codes & vouchers for days out, and there are some travel agents and other users etc who are on there finding great deals on holidays, so you can save your change towards your NEXT holiday!!

Do have a nosey on the Old Style board, plenty of people wanting to know aobut how to make food without the slaving over the stove all day long and to cook great food for pence.

All the best, your action plan looks great

well done mrs. dazz for coming on here and having a good look at the spending. I would say you have quite a few good items in your list and I would be interested to find out at the end of next week if you did in fact stick with it.

all the best and good luck to you both!!

    Mrs Dazzanator,

If you or Mr are in a trade union, check with them, many of them have discounted caravan hols for thier members i know Unison definately does, as does NUT.

    Happy caravanning!

That sounds like a great action plan, and even if you only achieve a few of those points it will be a great start. Don't expect it to be easy to change everything in one go, it really isn't, but hopefully the motivation of the holiday will help.
I'd definitely recommend trying to meal plan every meal of the day, including snacks. I find it really easy to plan dinner (and we always have cereal/muesli and juice in for brekkie) but often miss out planning lunch at the weekend and then it is easy to spend alot on a sandwich out or something.
Good luck with this coming week, do let us know how you get on!

I just wanted to say, on the being organised front, that if you can have a little shelf by the front door, perhaps you can put bottles of water (just top up an empty Evian bottle with tap water if you are anything like me :D ) there at night along with yoru keys (as long as you haven't got a glass panelled front door) and then you will remember to pick them up before you go out.

This is what I do...I physically leave things by the front door so I literally fall over them as I walk out :rotfl:

Good luck Mr & Mrs Dazzanator with the action plan.

Think its fantastic that you have worked out so quickly where you think you were going wrong & that you have already deceided what & how you are going to deal with it.
Hope you really enjoy your holiday when it comes.
