Hello everyone,
I have just tried to settle my Halifax personal Loan, I was quoted £4419.56 over the phone as my settlement figure, I checked this figure a few times to make sure I had the right amount. I sent the letter and the cheque off.
I woke up to a phone call from the halifax this morning telling me the settlement cheque is £500 short. and it should be..£4919.56
I asked if there was anyway to prove this as I was very sure of the original amount, she said "we could try and retrieve the phone call but this would still leave the account open and unpaid"
Has anyone heard of this before? and is there anything I can do?
Thanks in advance
Lee

Perhaps you should have requested the settlement figure in writing. I've done this in the past as you can't be 100% certain that the figure quoted over the phone is the same one in writing. Sadly you already realise this now.0
