Being new to shopping and home life, in the sense of vegetables etc Ive only used packets of Frozen Veg so far.
Was wondering If it is cheaper buying the Real thing and wondered who does it at a good price.
For example is it any good from Lidl & Aldi and how does the price compare.
The main shops apart from those I have easy access to are Tesco & Sainsburys

Does where you live have a market? They're usually much cheaper than any supermarket and probably fresher. (Did you know apples are sometimes stored in gas for up to 6 months before they're sold?) You can also buy as much as you want rather than having it prepackaged to the amount Mr Tesco or ASDA want you to buy. (Saves on all that plastic too, so good for the environment.) I usually go to my market near the end of the day, when they're selling it all for a knock-down price to get rid of it. I once got a whole box of mangoes (about a dozen, I think) for a quid.0_o0

lol what the hell did you do with them.
Nah im not near a market unfortunately.
The thing i keep wondering about is if I buy fresh stuff, wont i have too much for just myself, end up wasting it or it going off quickly. how longs it usually last if it doesnt have a date on.0 -

I buy loose veg. I buy just enough carrots, sprouts, potatoes etc to last for me and hubby.
I find if I buy veg on a friday night its best to use it before maybe Wednesday.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Well, let's just say that there's an awful lot of pureed mango in the freezer0_o0 -

We get the best bargains at our local farm shop, everything very fresh and plenty of choice! Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Lidl fruit and veg is great. i don't have a market nearby and our local farm shop is 4 times more expensive!!!
Lidl often have their fruit and veg half price. i find veg lasts well but fruit goes off a bit quicker than tesco but that is probably a good sign that it has less pesticides.0 -
Hi ya
Am after a load of cheap fruit to make Xmas presents with. Pick Your Own sounds like the answer, but I live in London and don't drive.
Anyone know a Pick Your Own place that is within a walk of a train station?
Cheers

The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0
